By Mark J. Rebilas/The Associated Press A truck mechanic who was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing $4.6 million in cash from his former employer has returned to work.
Brock Staudt was sentenced in December to a year in prison and $250,000 fine, plus five years’ probation.
Staudt said he’s “in love” with his former boss, John Deere, and said he plans to keep working with his son, who he was working for as a mechanic for the company.
The father of two has been with Deere for eight years and said the company offered him a job when he was out of work.
Strict sentencing guidelines require that the judge determine that Staudts crimes were serious and that the sentences are “appropriate and appropriate under the circumstances.”
Staudts defense attorneys did not immediately return a message from The Associated Press seeking comment on his plans to return to work after his release.
