The American Auto Workers are not exactly known for their top-shelf salaries.
But this is where they excel: They earn $2,000 to $3.25 an hour as mechanics.
So what is the average salary for a mechanic?
According to a recent study by the Texas Association of Mechanic Examiners, it’s $3 an hour.
What does that mean for a worker who wants to become a mechanic and is just trying to keep their job?
You can work as a mechanical wave cutter and make $2.25 per hour as a cutter or you can work for the same number of hours as a full-time mechanic and earn $1,200 to $2.,200 a month, the TAAE said in a release.
That is, if you have the required work experience and the right tools and equipment.
The study says you can make $3 per hour in a typical year as a machine operator.
In Texas, the average hourly wage for a fulltime mechanic is $3 and the average wage for an apprentice is $2 an hour, the release said.
In addition to making the most money, the Texas workers who make the most in the field earn the highest pay.
“Texas is a big place for people to earn a living, so I’m sure there are plenty of people who want to work in this industry,” TAAO President Dave Williams told Fox Sports.
But there are limits to the salary a mechanic can make.
“A mechanic must have at least five years of experience to qualify for the minimum wage,” Williams said.
The minimum wage in Texas is $7.25, which the TAAA said is not enough to support a full time job.
There are some exceptions to that rule, including those with more than five years’ experience.
If you are not a full member of a union and your employer does not offer the union benefits, you can still make more than the minimum.
In other words, a mechanic who has five years experience as a part-time worker can earn more than a full mechanic earning the same amount of hours.
In order to make more money, a technician has to be able to find and develop new skills, the report said.
TAAOTW also found that the average annual wage for part-timers is $4,500 a year.
“These are the types of workers who could have a huge impact on the quality of life in Texas and other states,” Williams told the Associated Press.
“But they are often overlooked.”
The report also showed that the Texas minimum wage for all workers is $9.25 and there are many exceptions to the rule.
These include: Those working part time for their own jobs, such as retail sales workers or janitors; and those who are self-employed.
These workers can make up to $7,500 per year as self-Employed Mechanics.
In states with more self-employment, a worker can make more or less than $10,000 per year.
The report says a minimum wage of $10 per hour is needed to support the minimum amount of work a person has to perform in order to be considered an “employee.”
“Some employers may not have the right to pay the full hourly rate to an employee who does not meet their minimum hourly requirements, and they will not be compensated for this, especially if they do not provide benefits such as sick leave,” Williams added.
The TAAOE said that employers must also provide paid sick leave to employees.
This is a good thing because sick leave is often the only way a person can recover from illness.
The most important thing you can do for your employer to make sure you get paid is to be respectful and follow the TPA’s guidelines.
“I can tell you that I will do anything to make you happy,” Williams stated.
If your employer doesn’t have the TTAE guidelines, the minimum hourly wage can be raised by 10 cents to $11 per hour.
In a letter to the TAI, TAAOC General Counsel John Coughlin wrote, “I have no doubt that this rule would make a big difference in the lives of many Texans, and it is not too late to help them.”
“This rule would save thousands of Texans’ lives,” Williams agreed.
“That’s what we are doing here at TAA.
We are working to get this rule changed so that millions of Americans have the opportunity to earn the same pay and to live the life they want.”
